Description
The name Joshua tree was given by a group of Mormon settlers who crossed the Mojave Desert in the mid 19th century. The tree's unique shape reminded them of a Biblical story in which Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky in prayer.
"I have climbed highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for" by Bono, The Joshua Tree
